Mosaic Tiled Floor in Orlando, FL

mosaic tiled floorDue to their variation in tone and pattern our natural stone tiles complement any interior design. Most common uses in modern homes are geometric patterns which evoke the traditional and classical designs of Persian and Ancient Greek architecture. Modern homes depict scenes or still images in mosaic forms for a personal and highly unique touch.

Our stone tiles are available in a variety of light, subtle tones and finishes; so your mosaic tiled floor can be truly unique and a source of constant fascination. You can add a modern, chic look to any room with mosaic tile by creating unique patterns and designs.

Eco-friendly Tile Installation - Orlando, FL

ecofriendly tilesEco friendly tiles create stunning interiors, over any imagination. The tiles can offer many possibilities to create hallways and canopies. The eco-friendly tiles create structural quality and a real environmental philosophy.

Made of ceramic, glass, or stone, tile has unrivaled durability. It works in high-traffic areas such as entries, kitchens, and hallways. Manufacturers now offer more floor tiles with the look and color range of stone, ceramic tile, terracotta, or terrazzo, but with recycled content.

Recycled-content tile makes use of otherwise wasted by-products diverting glass, used tiles, granite dust, stone tailings, or unfired material from landfills and offsetting its high “embodied energy” cost (price of energy required to get a product from its source).

In the last two to three years there has been an explosion of new products on the scene, many being made from recycled materials derived from wood, glass, metals and more.

Most recyclers collect materials in a range of colors because that is what we as consumers are turning in to our local recycling centers. As a result, recycled product manufacturers are able to produce finished products with more variety and color that simply can not be found in regular production materials.

Tile Metrics highly recommend taking a look at our Eco-Friendly Tile options at our showroom.

Natural Stone Floor Tiles in Orlando, FL

Natural Stone Floor Tiles in Orlando, FL -

Natural Stone Floor Tile remodeling is highly popular among home-makers because it is about ease of use, style, and it is also highly affordable.

A unique Natural Stone Floor Tile redecoration method has been created by fixing together similar looking smooth stones manually and carefully attached onto a mesh backing of 12″ by 12″ size. This tiling method is so easy and practical, it enables you to redecorate almost anywhere: bathroom flooring and wall coating (including showers), kitchen surfaces such as countertops & backsplashes, patios, pools and even fireplaces.

Some advantages of this special technique are:

* Easily adjusted to almost any surface size especially when it comes to tiling around taps and small narrow areas.
* Can be used for virtually unlimited applications at home, in the office, in restaurants, hotels, etc.
* Easily installed over existing surfaces such as old ceramics or plain concrete.

There are also some important tips!

* Use only high quality materials such as grout and sealer - you don’t want your tiles to fall apart after few months just because you wanted to save a few dollars.
* Avoid using any ready-made grout on wet areas like shower floor/backsplashes - use any other standard dry powder based cement.
* Order a small sample of the desired tiles prior to making a complete order - just to make sure it answers your expectations.

Many home-makers find this Natural Stone Floor Tiles technique quite effective due to the fact that it provides numerous opportunities and applications that easily enable you to transform any room setting to modern and appealing. For a smooth and successful installation it is recommended to contact the professionals at Tile Metrics that can provide you with a detailed, cost-effective plan that fits your kitchen, bathroom, outdoor or any room tile installation needs.  Tile Metrics is your source for Natural Stone Floor Tiles in Orlando, FL.

Tile Flooring in Orlando, FL

tile flooringTile Metrics, Inc - Tile Flooring in Orlando, FL Tile flooring is made from slabs of clay that are fired for hardness. It is not only a surface that endures heavy traffic beautifully, but, as one of the earliest man-made building materials, it’s a product that has endured the ages.

Tile may be either glazed or unglazed. Glazed flooring tiles have very hard, smooth surfaces that reject water and stains. They are thicker and less glossy than tiles used for walls and counters. The glaze, applied between the first firing and a second one, gives the tile color and texture. Glazed tile comes in every color of the rainbow and may be high gloss, satin, matte, or dull, smooth or textured.
Unglazed tile is unfinished, so it is usually the color of the fired clay or an added pigment. It doesn’t scratch as easily as glazed tile but, because it doesn’t have the hard surface finish, it is more liable to stain. It is generally treated with a sealer or wax for protection.

Tile is made in many different sizes, from 12-by-12-inch (or larger) pavers to tiny mosaic tiles. Unglazed tiles can be installed unfinished or can be sealed so that they have increased moisture and stain resistance.

Flooring tile should have a nonskid, stainproof surface. The slipperiness of a particular tile is rated by a friction coefficient and, more than anything, this is a factor that limits where or whether a tile should be used as a flooring material.

When shopping for tile, you’ll discover two distinctive types:
Ceramic tile - it is the most common, is made of clay baked in a conventional kiln.
Porcelain - is made from fine white clay fired at an extremely high temperature, is much harder and often has the luster of stone; it is quite resistant to staining.

From home renovation to commercial construction Tile Metrics has your project covered. Choose among our wide selection of quality natural stone and tile flooring.

Outdoor Tiles & Installation

With all the rage and constant spread and growth of the “Go Green” trends, now you can be environmentally friendly and stylish with Tile Metrics’ natural stone outdoor flooring solutions.  Our Eco-friendly tiles and natural stone flooring gives your home warmth and character to establish more of a ‘home’ feeling.  Whether, you want to add a new walkway, repair an old porch, or cover a pool deck, we can design and install outdoor flooring that fits your home needs.   Tile Metrics offers a wide variety of travertine pavers, ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, and pebble meshes for your outdoor project.

Travertine pavers are made from natural stone material in the limestone family.  It’s a dense, yet pourous material made of calcium carbonate and usually found in or near hot springs.  Large amounts exist in Tivoli, near Rome, Italy and it has been used for thousands of years in construction because of its sturdiness.  Travertine comes in a variety of colors including brown, gold, walnut, and ivory.  Different shades within the slabs blend together to form its charateristic  patterns.

Outdoor Ceramic Tile is made from a mixture of organic materials, and/or red or white clay and is kiln-fired to a finish that is durable and low maintenance.

Outdoor Porcelain Tile, very similar to ceramic tile, is made from porcelain clay.  It’s ideal for commercial and home flooring because of its dense nature, and is virtually wear-proof and low maintenance.

Central Florida Floor Tile Showroom

Tile Floor Showroom in Central FloridaWhile we provide custom tile flooring installation throughout Central Florida, Tile Metrics has a showroom where you can browse our assortment of tile options located in Oviedo, FL.

The first thing you should do when deciding to develop a tile flooring project is to draw a floor plan of the room.  The plan should include all the details and information which could have any bearing on the carrying out of the project:  doors, cabinets, toilets, electricity supplies, among others.  At our showroom we can help you draw out your concept and then set an appointment in order to turn the idea into a tangible plan.

Another largely overlooked planning consideration is the use of cement backerboards.  These are thin concrete sheets that are used to cover plywood subfloors.  Ceramic and stone tiles are not flexible, so they require a more rigid subsurface than other materials.  Cement backerboard provides a solid, flat surface to install tiles on when you have a wood subfloor.

Stop in to our showroom in Oviedo, FL and discuss your plan with one of our Tile Flooring experts.

Mosaic Art On Stone Tile

A little History
Made by adhering small pieces to a mesh backing, mosaic tile may be made from ceramic or natural stone. An excellent range of colors and textures are available. Mosaics can be used on walls or floors. Because of the many grout lines, a mosaic floor is usually not slippery when wet.

Handcrafted mosaic floors allow you to accent any room, no matter what your style.  The mosaic technique has actually been used in decorating the interiors of homes since the fourth century BC in Macedonia.  The upper class citizens would have mosaic patterns on their floors to showcase their standing in society and the money that they had to spend on such decorations. mosaic tile flooring

What to Look For
When you’re choosing a handcrafted mosaic floor, you will want to make sure that the coloring matches the rest of the room.  With all of the colors that are usually assembled in the mosaic, this should not be a problem.  However, if you’re not interested in adding too much detail to a room, you will want to make sure that the rest of the room is simpler so as to accent this mosaic piece.

Whether you’d like to do custom mosaic flooring for your Orlando bathroom, your Lake Mary kitchen, or Daytona Beach house, Tile Metrics has the ability to help you reach your design aspirations.  Make sure to visit our showroom in Oviedo to learn more.

Indoor Tile Floor Installation

Installing Floor Tile in your home or office is a trend that continues to grow in popularity, mainly due to the reasons below:

  • Tile has a custom, natural, handcrafted look that is very durable and easy to take care of.
  • Tile is a perfect fit for high foot traffic areas, and is well suited for entry areas where dirt and water may enter the house
  • Design patterns are virtually limitless when using all the possible combinations of color, size and texture.

So you’re convinced Tile is the way to go and now you just need to decide what type of floor tile is going to go where.  The Porcelain Enamel Institute has grouped tile into 5 different sectors based on hardness and they are as follows:

  • Group I - Light Traffic: residential bathroom floors where bare or stocking feet are generally used.
  • Group II - Medium Traffic: home interiors where llight abrasion occurs.  Not for kitchens or entries.
  • Group III - Medium-Heavy Traffic: any home interior
  • Group IV - Heavy Traffic: homes or light to medium commercial areas.
  • Group V - Extra Heavy Traffic: use this tile floor group anywhere.

Alright, so now we know why to buy Tile Flooring from Tile Metrics and what group of Floor Tile is best suited for the project at hand.  What’s next?  Stop into our Showroom at 1331 W. Broadway St. in Oviedo, FL.  We can come to your home or office for a free analysis by simply calling 407-977-TILE.  We’ll glady travel from Orlando to Lake Mary.

So in summary, each type of tile can provide a healthy, long lasting floor surface and may even be reusable in another location.  Hardness is measured on a scale from 1-5, with 1 indicating a tile should not be used for high traffic areas and 5 signifying a surface designed for very heavy foot traffic and abrasion.  Kept relatively free of sand and grit, floor tile can last as long as the house it is in!
